Hey Phone Makers... Our Landline Phones Stink.

Nobody likes landline phones, especially office phone systems.
Let's face it, landline phones are way behind mobile phones. Even the top of the line office phones are loaded with buttons and confusion blinking lights. For many people, it's easier to walk down the hall to call somebody than to find his number in the speed dial or on some outdated paper taped to the side of your monitor.
How many times have you heard somebody say "Hold on, let me see if I can transfer you, here's my number in case I lose you"?
That's because they have no idea how to use the phone, and there's actually a very good chance you'll get cut off.
There's a HUGE market for better landline phones
If you picture in your mind what your home or office will look like in 10 years... will your phone still look the same? Of course not. I can almost guarantee it will be more like a mobile phone. So... What are they waiting for? Just because landline phones sit on your desk, doesn't mean they can't be "Smart" phones. If anything, because they don't have to be small enough to fit in your pocket, it should be much easier to include the same kinds of technology as our mobile phones.
What kind of features should a "Smart Landline" phone have.
1. Touchscreen interface, running something like iOS or Android.
2. Contact directory, with personal contacts as well as contacts that are shared with all extensions in the home / office.
3. Video conferencing, using Facetime, Skype, etc.
4. Simple interfaces to transfer, put calls on hold or conference.
5. Easy voice mail.
6. Instant Messaging between extensions... "You're wife is on line 2"
7. Bluetooth hands free options.
Home units could have:
1. Baby / room monitor.
2. Apps for things like leaving notes to family members.
Sound familiar?
Well, it should. I'm just describing the kinds of things we already have in the phones we carry around. It boggles the mind why the phones in our homes are so far behind.
